Magneto wire is acting possessed

Recommended Posts

When my wire from the magneto is connected to the ignition switch, no spark at the plug. If my wire from the magneto is not connected, it starts fine, but won't switch off. Any suggestions?

I believe that the wire between the mag and ignition switch is the ground wire for the mag.  Connect it to ground, the engine shouts off.  Not connected to ground, the mag will make spark.  I think the ignition switch grounds this wire in the off position.

Do not put 12v on that wire.  Magic smoke will come out of the mag, and it will quit working.

:text-welcomeconfetti:to the forum.  You have found a good source of help for your Wheel Horse.

Possibly the WRONG ignition switch too.

Is this tractor one that you've had for some time or is it new to you?

@Jallen7773, Is this a tractor you have owned for a while and just started actin up? Has anything in the wiring been changed? Do you own or have access to an Ohm Meter? Please let us know what model your :wh: is and we can help you eliminate this problem.
