Mike C160 251 #1 Posted June 3, 2022 Greetings. Well, I had asked what drive belt to put on my 1977 C160. I was told to check the parts manual. But I couldnt find a 1977. I was told a 76 would be fine. That I found And the drive belt pt number was 7478 which is 84 x 5/8ths. However its too big. Its too long and 5/8ths seems also too big. Does anyone know what the correct belt for this unit is? I would appreciate. Cheers

squonk 43,714 #4 Posted June 3, 2022 Belt is 7478 which is 5/8 x 84" Check the belt to make sure it has the right # on it and also measure it. Mistakes do happen. Can you post a picture of the belt on the tractor so we can see what's going on? https://www.partstree.com/models/71-16ks02-c-160-toro-lawn-tractor-1977/

squonk 43,714 #6 Posted June 3, 2022 You want a 5L840. Do not use a B belt. If you have a Napa near by get a 5L840W

Mike C160 251 #8 Posted June 3, 2022 @squonk Well, the new idler pulley is on All dressed up and no belt to go. I got the lift cable and rocker shaft to install along with an oil and filter for the rear end. I suppose I'll quit my whining and get back to work. Cheers

Im kind of remote so our napa is small and likely wont have this in stock Im a little let down right now. I just drained the oil from the rear end and small pieces of bearing cages came out.
Mike C160 251 #11 Posted June 3, 2022 (edited) @squonk Any idea where this could be from? Differential? Or hydro unit? Common place failure? It runs and drives fine..... Cheers Edited June 3, 2022 by Mike C160
