Outside the box here, but how about a Gravely transmission with an electric motor.  Three batteries under the hood, turn the motor on with a contractor so it runs at a constant speed and use some sort of clutch and the transmission gears for speed control.  Maybe even better, use a hydro for 'infinite' forward/reverse direction and speed control.

I'll enjoy watching the build.

Lookin good so far!

Beat Tesla to the “charger” station… :scared-shocked:

Go electric with 3 batteries (36 v) and on / off motor with standard WH clutch system… same system as my E141… I can send you whatever pics you want…

If you go electric you are going to need a long drop cord to get around the Fairgrounds.

You made me think of that climate convention in Scotland and that hotel the officials were staying in that had to bring in diesel generators to charge all the green electric busses lolz.

Electric may be a good idea, but we're a long way from ready....

Forget the Electric, thankfully this isn't Tesla!

You want dependability to make several laps of the Fairgrounds.

Looks like a gear transmission back there.

Put a good old K series in it and up the pulley size to increase speed a little.

You can put a nice two person bench seat on that platform, maybe even enough room for a sleeping bag.

Strap some 5 gallom  buckets on the back and have a mobile Jethro Clampitt sales mobile.

That's actually an Eaton 6  hydro.  They have some interesting features including a plunger type tow /drive valve  that makes for easy no load engine starting when in the tow position and a positive parking brake.

The Eaton 6 hydro was used in the '70s 800 series.   A totally different frame mounting system.

the sky's the limit!

I see two Kohler 8hp engines.

One to run the hydro, the other to provide belt driven power to the snow cone / margarita maker!

It is time to get a little practical.

Skip the gas, diesel and electric motors and go totally green.

Lots of excellent suggestions.

Maybe combine them?

A pedal start gas engine which starts a fair sized diesel which is powering a generator which charges the batteries which sends the juice to an electric motor which turns the hydro transmission.... AND the margarita production machine.

Sure are....You guys are full of it....... ehum    ideas.

Maybe I should clarify how this buggy will be used.

I won't be needing speed or a parachute to get it stopped.   Remember 55 years ago, I got to drive the Old Reliable on the street before Dave Strickler and Bill Jenkins took over.

This will be a Side by Side two seater  with a small stake body for cruising shows.   Who knows, If it is comfortable enough, Mrs K may join me .

It will also be my transporter to my deer stand, so it may have a bow rack and a winch to  load venison.

  OK, keep em coming.

That may work Jimmy,  but I need power year round.    Guess I could adopt the Squonk.    Another dependent would really help my income tax.    Wonder how much a Squonk eats.

The consumption to financial return ratio could be very close.
