Hello All!

Recommended Posts

Evguy

Just joined the group and wanted to say hello!

I just purchased my first Wheel Horse, a WH GT1800 with damaged engine and this forum looks like it will assist me in repair.
I pick it up in a few days and anxious to start on it, I am undecided on the engine situation.

I may convert to electric or repair/replace engine.
I have done vehicle conversations but never a tractor.

:text-welcomeconfetti:to the forum.  Lots of good helpful folks here.

Not too many electric conversions, though.  Start a thread on it if you choose to go that way - it will make interesting reading.

Welcome! This sounds really interesting. As others have said before me, if you are converting to electric please keep us posted.

Judging by your username converting anything to electric drive shouldn't be a problem.

Greetings from the Netherlands, Mark

You will find that the Wheel Horse is a rather simple straightforward machine to work on and most of the parts are common industrial items (bearings, belts, bushings etc.) and our vendors make it easy to obtain what you need.

When you get your  :wh: please remember,   :wwp:.

I have converted bikes, a four wheeler, a few cars, and battery conversion on electric motor cycles . I did a john deere during Covid out of boredom but without deck. With gas going up I figured why not do a yard machine.

I'm interested in what motors and batteries are used for this type of stuff. See a bunch a C&@p on Amazon but have no idea what I'm looking at. Any guidance is appreciated.

Basically looking to hot rod a garden tractor. Power and speed like a Tesla.

Most of the conversions I have done are DC, current technology is AC or multiple phase DC. Lithium, high amp controller and motor can get you good performance, there will be a lot of cost involved. I can suggest build sites, but not sure if allowed here.

Wait ... what ?

You're going to have to explain how direct current can have a 'phase'.

That's fine as long as they are not for sale sites.
