https://www.harborfreight.com/12-volt-remote-starter-switch-35448.html?  , only an idea , many variations of this , you can easily make up your own , but when you are  hunting / testing for electrical function , on starter issues , this and electrical alligator clips , make things easier . pete

Used one for years - depends on the vehicle how easy it is - or isn't - to hook up.

@ri702bill  yup , every time i read about a guy , screwdriver jumping a wheel horse , solenoid  , hunting down an electrical issue , yadda , yadda ,  you know , pete

@peter lena - back in the mid 1980's, I worked at a local specialty Machine Tool manufacturer. About once every other month i put the word out that I was going to do a Sears Run Friday after work to exchange damaged Craftsman tools. I would collect any and all the cracked or damaged sockets and wrenches, and broken hand tools. Then I would see the 3 guys in the electrical department. They would produce a collection of burnt, semi-melted used-to-be screwdrivers. The store manager never denied a return, he said he had seen a lot worse ...

That was about the time they started their downhill slide, both financially and quality.  The current Craftsman tools are pure junk, I needed a handful of sockets replaced in a set that was brand new.
