ebinmaine 71,825 #1 Posted April 11, 2022 @JCM here's tractor #2... I'd like to get this beast up n runnin' and drive it so I can see if the transmission is healthy. After that I may borrow the engine for a bit for another tractor. The PO had a nephew that had good intentions but some folks just should not pick up a tool. The wiring is partially removed from the tractor. There is no test circuit board. There are no test lights. Here's the schematic diagram I've been using. The engine topside has a GREEN wire coming out where I believe it should have a BLUE wire for the (oil pressure sensor??). I have to assume it's a replacement wire and/or sensor. At the plug where that wire would normally lead into and exit there is NO wire on the outgoing side as it's been cut. Note the end of the screwdriver. Do I need the oil pressure sensor to be connected to start the engine? If so what do I connect that green wire to? Thanks. 1

If you have the right schematic, then the oil switch is an indicator light only. Only the seat and PTO safeties affect start/run. 2

I'll do more when I get time. Those safety switches are temporarily bypass-able so it should be headed towards starting with a coil, 2 plugs, and 2 ignition wires.

If your only goal is to get the engine running to test the engine and transmission then the only wiring you'll need is a temporary jumper wire from the battery "+" (switch optional) to the ignition coil "+" terminal and a small jumper wire from the battery side of the solenoid to the small blue wire on the solenoid for momentary contact (push button optional). 10 hours ago, ebinmaine said: Do I need the oil pressure sensor to be connected to start the engine? NO, a test light to reassure you that there is oil pressure might be nice though. Edited April 11, 2022 by 953 nut 1

pacer 3,176 #6 Posted April 11, 2022 Dont remember the model I had, but it hat that .... long! row of idiot lights and as I started fooling with it I pretty quickly could see that to get that mess back would take hours and prolly would still not be back right. And like you, I needed to see the thing run in order determine if it was even worth continuing. So, I ripped all that tangle out and reset it up with a simple on/off/run. Once I did that - which of course is simple - I had it running quickly ----- and, the best part was that every thing was AOK, and turned out to be a nice tractor.
