I am considering this Tractor. According to the manual it'll run a 15 spline cat 0 and has a hole, (female) at the pto spinning 2000 rpm, I do not know the direction as yet cw/ccw. The seller seems stand offish, almost like he isn't taking me seriously, asking 4 grand

Any thoughts?

Thoughts?  At least it's red. Will go well with your other horses.

I don't know anything about Hondas.

Just thought it would be a nice machine, could run WH Implements as well. RED, yes, fit right in for sure!

We had picked up a Honda 4213 a while back - the owner was told it needed a starter and a few incidentals and would be in the neighborhood of $550 to fix as the engine needs to be removed to change the starter. We got it for FREE - all it needed was brushes - new loaded end cap, Honda OE part, less than $40 and removable with the starter in place!! It was 13 HP 2-cylinder liquid cooled engine - ran great. Had it for 2 years and sold it for$400.

Possibly the seller is hoping for a not-too-swift buyer due to a not obvious problem with the tractor or his price is above market. Asking intelligent questions might have labeled you as not the ideal customer!

Four grand seems high for just the 2wd tractor and the mower deck.

That 42" side discharge deck sounded like a wind tunnel with the PTO engaged at full throttle - it had 3 high lift blades and would shoot the clippings about 20 feet!!

I have a 36" RD all new bearings and new balanced uplift blades, it should do well on the 312-8, hopefully! Last test it needed a bit more TLC. This is an older deck with 3/4" x 6" keyed spindles and later two piece belt covers. I am ready to see if it'll whirl!

I use the same 36" deck on the C81 - gives a superior cut to the 36" gear drive unit on the 854

already seeing dollar signs flashing!

Which reminds me - original Honda replacement and maintenance parts are expensive!!

I needed to replace the screw-on oil filter, as the Doofus previous owner would hit the starter with a hammer to try to get it to start. He severely dented the shell of the oil filter as a result of his poor aim. The local Honda Outdoor Power dealer wanted $14 and change for the filter - It turns out to be the same filter used on older Honda Civics - $6 later, I bought a quality Purolator filter.

Pays to do a bit of research, a lot filters are OEM, expensive, even a common bolt almost 3 x higher from the manufacturer !

Ya. I would've liked to at least go check it out, see the PTO, CW/CCW? Just see first hand but didn't get the chance.

Don't worry there are a ton of these tractors in PA. You might still get that chance.
