Engines...almost as addicting as tractors

Yet another Maytag 92 is probably about to come home with us...sent the guy we got the purple twin and the LB from a message earlier asking him what he thought a fair price would be for another barn find LB I found...he gave me some advice on that and then asked me if I was ready to adopt another 1927 92. He sent me the before and after pics and of course I couldn't pass it up. He wants to give the paint a day or two longer to cure, then make sure it starts and runs as it should before giving me a price on it.

I am usually not one for custom paint, I prefer to paint them back like they came from the factory, but in this case I will make an exception...this thing is AWESOME

You ain't lyin' Professor!

I'd put that on my coffee table in the living room!

Now I'm thinking... why hasn't anyone done an "Old Glory" paint job on a Horse?  Or maybe someone has?

Funny you should say that, we actually have the LB displayed prominently in the corner of our dining room, mostly because the dadgum thing is too blasted heavy to carry down the stairs into the basement where the rest of the engines are stored, though it does look good there. I think the wife might frown upon me putting a 92 on the coffee table, no matter how pretty it is :ROTF:

My first Horse was a "Red, White and Blue".

Had a very special delivery at work today...was planning on picking up this engine tomorrow...but Steve messaged me this morning saying he wanted to get out of the house for a bit and would just bring it down to me today...he also brought me a pair of original Maytag script spark plugs for the twins as well.

Don't remember if I showed off this early 1927 Model 92 or not...got this engine and a Model 19 as part of a package deal when we bought our 49 John Deere A.

As you can see it was in pretty rough shape when we brought it home...I have since torn it down, cleaned it all up, and today started painting some of the pieces...still need to order a few parts for it. This will probably be the engine that will eventually power an ice cream freezer.FB_IMG_1648431818618.jpg.e4e1949a4a7007b777a79065745854ab.jpgFB_IMG_1648430485169.jpg.fa36b23219f3508963b365fc6d118ad7.jpg20220327_175012.jpg.1fb3a9f8d9c335ce0c04a21a154ec4a2.jpg20220327_180046.jpg.d8891f3cf90cb25ade8d5cb716c213af.jpg20220327_185423.jpg.ba94fd35520844e64fb833af5c7c1f99.jpg20220327_185430.jpg.96d14eeaf1f00c6b65d3cc047fbc1915.jpg

On another note... @Jeff-C175...I put the new 92 on display in the living room...she hasn't killed me...YET:text-lol:20220326_143705.jpg.0c98c5e574f5a1f02d3bedc303ffe180.jpg

Heard from my old buddy Steve again a couple weeks back, he was starting on another early 1937 Maytag Twin, and wanted to know what color I wanted it, since he knew I was gonna end up adopting it anyhow LOL. So I put in my order and fellas I'm gonna say he did NOT disappoint. Picking it up Tuesday on our way out of town to the Pawnee OK show. Without further babbling, here she is...my 92 now has a twin.

Oh and finally picking up the long base 1937 Twin as well, this engine was one I wanted back when we bought the purple twin and the LB, but he thought it was already sold. Guy never showed up so it's coming with us as well.

Thanks...Steve does do amazing work...we've bought several engines from him and every one of them turned out amazing. Here is a 1936 short frame 92 we picked up from him about a month ago20220416_163454.jpg.82fe976f99f690aa2671c774fc997465.jpg

As much as I enjoy rebuilding them myself...as busy as I am with work I'm thinking about taking these two I bought at auction couple weeks back and letting him work his magic on them as well. I'm really wanting to get the twin up and going as it is equipped with the less common Wico Magneto20220423_224826.jpg.c573f40569b8c8a38475c399afeb8068.jpg20220423_224815.jpg.ee2cdd89d5d0a2989943cc1a66ff671b.jpg

Just finished getting everything cleaned up and put away from our trip last week...we left the house Tuesday with 5 engines on the truck (the International LB and 5 Maytags)...came home Sunday with 10 engines and a tractor. Picked up the two twins from Steve on our way out of town, then we picked up 3 more Maytags at the show. Tasha bought a short frame shallow tank 92 and another hanging 72 with the Wico mag, and I bought another short frame deep tank 92. Then today I scored a steal of a deal on another washer...$20 on an online auction...was bidding on two more engines as well, but I backed off when I found out Steve was bidding on them as well.
