looking for a diaphragm

Recommended Posts

Redav72

Took apart the vacuum fuel pump on K-161S this afternoon to clear a scum blockage.  I found that the vacuum diaphragm has a cut in it and one of the two seals for the one-way valves was missing.  I had ordered a re-build kit for what I thought was the correct fuel-pump but it was the mechanical model.  Has anyone had any luck finding a re-build kit for the vacuum version of the fuel pump?  Otherwise does anyone have a recommendation on a diaphragm material that I could use to cut my own?  I'll also need a small disc to serve as the second gate in the out side one-way valve.

@buckrancher Brian was making those diaphragms but don't know for sure anymore. Try sending him a PM if he doesn't reply here on the thread.

If you use the search you can find other threads on here where some have used other vacuum pulse pumps for replacements

A company called Then & Now Automotive has had complete Kohler vacuum fuel pump repair kits available before. Their website is undergoing some upgrades & I wasn’t able to find that kit just now. Try giving them a call. There is a link to their website here on this forum. Go to Wheel Horse Reference & click on Red Square links and choose Parts Suppliers. It is under the title of Kohler metal body fuel pump repair kits. I have also used @buckrancher for just the vacuum diaphragm like @wallfish had mentioned. Good product & good service! -JD-

After a little more searching on Then & Now Automotive’s website I was able to find the fuel pump kit you need. Their part number is AC-4S-VAC. It looks like it contains everything you’ll need!     -JD-

Thanks all.  Will keep the electric pump in mind for future projects but want to stick as close to stock for this one.  Ordered the kit from Then & Now, looking forward to hearing this engine sing again.
