Ok it runs but... I have to have a jumper wire from the battery to the coil. I've read a lot of things online but still don't understand what I have to do. Can someone give me a run down on how I can get this to have spark like it used to.

Seat switch, PTO switch, ignition switch, relay, fuses and connections.  Download the Demystification Guide available on this forum.  Also download the owners manual with a wiring diagram.  Just check with a voltmeter till you find where the voltage is lost.

@RITEK  agree with @lynnmor  on the connection issue , those multiple point pin connectors are noted for stress cracking , look for powdery surface covering on a fault spot , have any  small alligator clip test wires ?  let you jump over the problem . chances are this is not a spot fix . if you get it going , take advantage and go over everything for a look see . tightly bent wiring and corrosion , is probably also there ,  pete
