Where in the Show-Me state are you? Here in STL we made the transition from rain to freezing rain to sleet to snow in the last hour. I'd say this is a fairly typical winter storm for the area...ice, ice, ice. Guys up north don't know how good they have it getting mostly snow through the winter. This transition zone crap is nonsense. Give me lake effect any day. Steve
WHX?? 51,732 #10 Posted February 17, 2022 19 here today but 45 yesterday. Calling for 50 high on Sunday then lows in the minus for next week. That's what's crazy about the weather here lately ...the large swings

Woke up to a couple inches of snow over a thin layer of frozen rain. Yup, the ice formed in the transition zone of the storms is a pita. On the other hand, the snow melts off quicker than it does up north. You end up running out of places to stack that lake effect snow you so gladly would prefer.

Excellent! Been there a bunch of times. There used to be a Military contractor show there every year that was organized by your previous US congressional rep. I loved lake effect events when I lived up north. But i will concede you either need a blower or have to plan way ahead to make room for the late season stuff. It’s a nice snow though…dry and fluffy. Today was a mess but I have to give credit to Illinois DOT. They do a good job. It can always be worse! steve
kpinnc 14,630 #19 Posted February 18, 2022 It's been pretty typical here for NC. Cold, hot, storms, repeat. Spring here is like a "box of chocolates". We have had a little snow this year, which makes me wonder if we'll get a late Feb/ early March snow. And as for that really cold stuff you guys get up north? You can keep it!
oliver2-44 10,708 #20 Posted February 18, 2022 Wednesday had a high of 82, Today 72 to they say 34, Friday 29 to 53. These 20 to 40 degree swings are fairly normal for Central Texas.

I grew up in Sedalia, still have family and property there. Now back to topic at hand. February weather here in MO has always been variable. I distinctly remember in the late 70’s an 80 deg day in Feb in central MO (Columbia). Was out running wo a shirt! FWIW here in the STL area we are supposed to be back to 60s Monday and another round of snow and ice by mid-week.
