Winch lift

Handy Don

Sorry, I should have noted that front end loaders are commonly referred to as FELs (saves a lot of typing!) :)

Well I took a look I think my tractor would probably look crazy with it on there.

@ranger is your still working did you have to do something different with it.

Mine is still working ok. The only thing I changed is the cable to a synthetic one. With the tiller I don’t need down pressure, (250 + lbs) takes care of that! If you want down pressure on a snow plough, have you considered, one of the ‘electric-hydraulic’ units, (ex pickup truck etc type). Fabricate a mounting framework to attach to the front ‘attach - matic’, or  bolt to the tractor frame to carry the lift cylinder, hydraulic unit and an auto alternator, positioned to line up with the pto. You could possibly mount a nice big heavy battery on the plow frame for extra weight, thus making the whole setup independent from the tractor electrics? Remote pendant controller for the unit so no hard wiring, just drive up, hook up? slip a belt on, and have fun in the snow. I believe there are companies that supply something similar for atv’s, etc. A  ‘cheaper’, and most probably easier to source alternative, would be to mount an hydraulic pump, (in place of alternator),  reservoir, etc on the mounting frame, cable operated spool valve, or solenoid type control valves. If you want to go ‘Ultra’ cheap, and can manage without, ‘Down Pressure’, go for the largest bore cylinder you can find, (a longer cylinder could be cut down to shorten it, maybe a bent/damaged one, from a breakers yard for scrap price?), a decent auto power steering pump, a one way ‘Check Valve’, (to lock plow in raised position), use the tractor pto lever to spin the pump and lift the plow, an hydraulic valve tee’d in between cylinder and check valve to ‘Dump’ the oil back to tank to lower raised plow?

Strategically placed weight and or helper springs may be within your budget.

A simple way to accomplish down pressure on a snow blade using a winch with a cable for the lift is to just add a bunch of weight to blade.

If you want to separate the winch's power from the tractor charging system, add a deep cycle battery to run it and charge it when not in use. Strategically mounted battery up front on the plow frame/blade and that's also part of the added weight for down pressure. The winch doesn't necessarily need to be mounted to the tractor and it can be mounted to the plow frame as well for more weight on the blade. :twocents-02cents:

@Snoopy11 what kind of hydraulics do you have on Hell Horse do they move pretty quickly?

I removed the hydraulics I put on it. I ended up selling my hydraulics for like over $800... :)

I had enerpac hydraulics that I added to and fabricated. And yes, it moved quickly enough for my personal expectations.

Nuttin...

No hydraulics whatsoever. I have a blade on it, which has a gas lift cylinder mechanism thingy...

I'm strong enough all right it's easy for me. But my dad is 75 so he kind of don't need to be doing that.

Just got to put my dad first but I don't even know if he's even going to get on it so I just wanted to plan ahead just in case he ever decides to. So do you guys think putting a winch on it would be a bad idea.

I'll probably just keep the lift lever on there.
