TJ5208 1,841 #1 Posted February 16, 2022 Has anyone made a winch lift that will work with the rear hitches and blade on a newer model Wheel Horse.

TJ5208 1,841 #5 Posted February 17, 2022 Will a winch take to much battery charge?
Achto 29,402 #6 Posted February 17, 2022 It does put a bit of strain on the charging system.
TJ5208 1,841 #7 Posted February 17, 2022 Just now, Achto said: It does put a bit of strain on the charging system. So would it be a bad idea to do it?
Achto 29,402 #8 Posted February 17, 2022 That all depends on frequency of use. A snow plow that gets a lot of up & down movement will cause more strain that a tiller that does not get lifted and lowered as often.

TJ5208 1,841 #10 Posted February 17, 2022 (edited) So is there anything else I could use that I could use more frequently other than a winch. Edited February 17, 2022 by TJ Salyers
Achto 29,402 #11 Posted February 17, 2022 Um, a high draw electric motor being run over & over. Most pick up trucks that run a snow plow will end up getting a high output alternator sooner or later. Most likely sooner that later. 2

TJ5208 1,841 #13 Posted February 17, 2022 @ranger is your still working did you have to do something different with it.

How would you even put a hydraulic system on this tractor could you still use the rear hitch to? Edited February 17, 2022 by TJ Salyers
TJ5208 1,841 #16 Posted February 17, 2022 @Snoopy11 what kind of hydraulics do you have on Hell Horse do they move pretty quickly?

You should spend a little time with the search bar to look through the years and years of threads that are on this site rather than just throwing out questions. Do some homework and ask about specifics. This topic has had many threads with many ideas being suggested and some even built! TJ5208 1,841 #18 Posted February 17, 2022 Okay I just looked at electric actuators. I cannot spend that much.

Achto 29,402 #20 Posted February 17, 2022 (edited) A lil ingenuity to get working hydraulics on my Raider 12. Edited February 17, 2022 by Achto 1
TJ5208 1,841 #21 Posted February 17, 2022 What kind of pump is that only problem with the Onan is you can't really attach it anywhere I looked up some hydraulics on the 520-8 there's no results for it.
Achto 29,402 #22 Posted February 17, 2022 The pump on my Raider is a Century Fox made by Hien Werner. If I was to install a pump on a 520 it would drive off from the PTO side of the engine not the fly wheel side. Hydraulic pumps are relatively small, just need to figure out where to mount a reservoir and the control valves. Ram would mount the same as my Raider.
TJ5208 1,841 #23 Posted February 17, 2022 (edited) But where would I mount the belt for the pump would it interfere with trying to run a tiller. Edited February 17, 2022 by TJ Salyers
TJ5208 1,841 #24 Posted February 17, 2022 (edited) Or would I try to run the belt farther back where I can mount the pump itself. Edited February 17, 2022 by TJ Salyers
Handy Don 14,062 #25 Posted February 17, 2022 Search for 520 projects that had a front end loader added. They all use an external hydraulic pump. 1
