stegs 327 #1 Posted February 3, 2022 Hey guys/gals quick question I have a newer tall chute "toro" brand snowblower that i traded for from a member here The snowblower works incredible, throws snow 20' easily. It has been a real life saver lately here in michigan with all the snow Anyway, I have it mounted to my 417-A, but i noticed if i get into some really heavy or deep stuff the blower slows way down and almost stops Usually its my fault, just going to fast, But i was wondering. Is is a sign that i need to replace the belt on the blower? Maybe its just wet? slipping? It works fantastic 99.9% of the time, but every once in a while it will almost stop spinning. Just curious, should i replace the belt, or you guys think it just gets wet and slips on the pulleys when the load is too much?
Pullstart 66,716 #2 Posted February 3, 2022 When it stops, do you see the belt stop too? Also, are you sure it’s in the larger diameter of the two PTO grooves?

Usually at that point im turned around and backing up and yes, i think im using the bigger of the pulleys,.
peter lena 9,271 #4 Posted February 3, 2022 @stegs , think you are going too fast , should be taking advantage of the gearing set up . make sure that related linkages are lubricated and free and easy in their function . pete
lynnmor 7,815 #5 Posted February 3, 2022 I think that your PTO is slipping, they need to be adjusted up firmly for a snowblower.

oldlineman 1,537 #10 Posted February 3, 2022 With snow blowing around I would not think it would be uncommon for the PTO to get wet and slip even if it seems to work ok in the summer mowing. Probable just needs one or so turns on the adjustment rod.
