82 c145 auto wiring question

was looking at this wiring and the P.o  bypassed the pto switch . the seat switch and clutch interlock switch still hooked up . i see they have a inline diode installed any one know if  W H ever done this looking at the wiring schematic on here i don't see any diodes   . i should trace this down to see where and what it goes too . bought this from a  old WH dealer  and he installed a new rectifier before he sold it to me cause he says it wasn't charging. i am going to redo all this cobbled up wiring i found 2 inline fuses on the same wire one should be sufficient .

You will sometimes see a diode in the magneto ignition wire as a safety to protect the ignition from a 12 volt power source.

The regulator DC+ output can be reduced by adding diodes. More common on the 3 amp unregulated charging systems but not original to the tractor.

@briankd , see the opportunity , hiding in plane site ?  battery ground cable ? from its bolt down ground stop , add a 4 ga cable to corner of engine to frame , next to clutch pedal area ,use serrated washer and a bolt on electrical lug for easy added ground access. from that lug access , add 12 ga wire  to rectifier bolts mounting points , then from there to your headlight grounding , add dielectric grease as you go to each bolt , connection point , you do not have to do this , if you think its crazy , but it works on my 3 horses . only a suggestion , while you have the opportunity . pete

worked on this today and rewired it it had the seat switch along with the brake interlock switch still wired in and done away with them last 2 safety switches . some people on here would say i shouldn't done that but i want it to start i don't want issues latter on with theses safety switches . i am the only one using it if i had youngins operating it it would be different .

just have a dumb question here on this seat switch . says operator in seat to power the accessories . that means the wire from seat goes to A on ignition switch ( hot wire ) then it would power the wire coming out ignition switch powering the wire to the headlight switch ? if so could run fused wire off positive on battery to the A  term on ignition switch . don't make sense to me why you would have to be sitting in seat for headlights to work  unless i'm missing something here lol

The headlamps and ignition will work if the pto is OFF and no operator in the seat.

The headlamps and ignition will not work if the pto is ON and no operator in the seat.

The primary goal of this configuration is to control the ignition. The headlamps are secondary. If the engine is not running you don't need headlamps.

done just as you said i had issue with my c120 when restored it had hell of a time to get a good ground on it ran wire and grounded everything . gets aggravating get a job like this done and stuff don't work due to bad grounds

@briankd  brian , glad you did that , found that to be the best electrical aid for many issues , makes my stuff solidly start , now that I have you on the road of change , look up   EVIL ENERGY for a fuel check valve in 5/16" size. , if you get one , mount it VERTICALLY  on fuel pump discharge to carb . a perfect spot for it , like it was made for it. that check valve will hold a carb fuel charge, and stop fuel back flow , makes them start instantly . use the small dark green squeeze clamps on the fuel hose , and use flat jaw lineman's plyers  to squeeze the clamps in place. have this same set up on my 3 horses , lots of hours , it works , keep it going , pete

i will check that out . seen some post on here about bleed back and some guys put the primer bulb  inline like what you use on an outboard . and i was wondering about some kind of check valve . all my other tractors are tank under hood gravity feed to pump

@briankd  this is it ,https://www.amazon.com/EVIL-ENERGY-Return-Petrol-Aluminium/dp/B07ZB42CGT  if your pump is worn , the drain back increases , but if your pump is ok , this check valve will hold the fuel in place , pete

yep im am ordering them as we speak i will put the second one on my c120 seems it  sits for awhile it starts hard like the fuel drains back on it

@briankd morning, use a small amount of  super lube  or dielectric grease on the starting starting ends of the check valve , makes easier hose slide , also put on spring clamps first , so you can slide them over the hose end area.  . https://www.grainger.com/product/44N742?ef_id=Cj0KCQiAxoiQBhCRARIsAPsvo--  shop around for pricing , use this on my throttle / choke cables , make it drip out the end , ensuring function and coverage . this will make cables much smoother,  be in touch , pete
