Very cool! Any videos of it in action?

Southern New England is supposed to get hammered with snow this weekend, perfect time to shoot us some videos.

@Bens vintage tractors

Pleasant mountain, Shawnee Peak in background?

What did you do for the attachment points on the skis?

Ben: Prety cool way of saving old iron and having fun with it. A big :handgestures-thumbupright: I hope you are ready for the weekend 2' or more in your area. Maybe for 1' for us.

Yessir and I’m working on a YouTube video that covers the whole build process!

Garbage predator 212 that likes to smoke right out of the box. It’s a 50-50 chance if your getting a junker or a good running engine from them.. I’ll just return it for a new one lol

I’m going to make some adaptor brackets to run the skis on this machine. My goal is to be able to put the skis on any of my tractors with 23,25,27 inch tires.. also this machine has an 18hp engine and a locked rear end so I’m pretty sure it’s gonna make a huge difference.

What king of adapters will you need for that 18 horse machine?  Maybe just keep the front axle all one unit and swap it as needed?

I’m considering a wider front stance but am not sure if I want to build a whole new axle for it.

Some 2" square tube and 12 or 14" of 3/4 ID round heavywall tubing or maybe some black iron pipe.

You could throw something together like I modified for Colossus in no time at all...

The front axle and spindles are exactly the same. I was worried that it would rake forward too much but I was wrong it ended up working pretty good:

Ben I'll be looking forward to seeing video and hearing your impressions on this one.

I've been mulling over making up a set of wooden skis for a late fall/early spring usage wood puller here.

The skis of course are easy enough.

My concern was/is how deep the rear tires would sink in to the snow.

Rear tracks would certainly be a good viable option but I'm just not going to take the time to build or buy them.

I'm thinking wider tires or duals with chains might "float" enough to make it effective even here where the snow stays in the forest alot longer.

@ebinmaine my 953 “Chloe” with the tire chains and skinny tires all around mostly floats across up front and chews in out back.  That’s not saying it’ll happen that way when you ad 134938171990 lbs to the tractor though.

Should be fine. Even with everything added on I only have 134938171989 lbs to use.

@ebinmaine I’m going to try my tires on the front and see how much of a difference the skis really make! I’ll report back

So @ebinmaine I can confirm the skis make a WORLD of difference in the deep snow/ any snow at all. The skis make it so much easier to drive and turn. 110% recommend them!
