8ntruck 7,870 #2 Posted December 13, 2021 I'm going to guess that the adjustable tie rod is a replacement. I just broke a tie rod on my 14-8 no name. The original one piece tie rod has been superseded by an adjustable tie rod. Not sure when that happened, but it makes sense, as the adjustable tie rods are also ambedextrious. The one piece tie rods are not. Toro can save a few bucks by reducing the number of spare parts to inventory.
Lee1977 7,221 #3 Posted December 13, 2021 Build as new set with heims joints is the best way to fix it. They don't ware out like ball joints and come apart. 1
peter lena 9,302 #4 Posted December 13, 2021 @Lee1977 agree with that , the make up is simple and easy , I use 3/8 x 24 thread rod , and two heim joints , been testing for failure now for years , never happened , you can also get 1/2 x 24 thread rod for 1/2" heim joints . , clutch rod , pto lever rod , snow plow angle rod , no failure heim joints , pete
rmaynard 16,349 #5 Posted December 13, 2021 The answer to your question is YES, they came from the factory with one end adjustable. That way they only had to make one, not one left and one right.
