I find this Knob is suited for the 1973 Tractor

I cut the 1/4-20 Screws to 3/4", replaced the nuts with Nyloc.

 

Placed the Bumper & Top Bracket (inverted)

 

Placed the Assembly on the desired location (8:00) "I like having my right hand free or on the Forward/Reverse Lever" (Made In China)😢

 

Dropped the Screws down through and pressed the Bumper in place prior to tightening

 

The Bottom Bracket and Nyloc's

 

The finished install tightened to "Good & Tight" This Tractor I would spin the wheel like crazy doing three point turns, hence the "Red Spinner Knob"

I did that at first and the Bumper absorbed all the torque, the Bottom Bracket began to bend. This way the torque was distributed across the spoke and less space between the two brackets.

The first thing I buy after a new purchase (after I get it running!) is that very knob, get mine at TSC. Saw a typical plastic one on the bay that had the Wheel Horse logo in it and thought that would be nice ---- lasted a few months and came apart.

 

I've got D's also and I too like to keep my right hand on the motion lever and steer with the left. I'm in my 80's and the first car I got when I turned 15 was a '39 ford coupe and it quickly had a knob, kept them on the next several cars/trucks til I could afford one with power steering!!

I seen a few like that and almost bought one! The Green one has a John Deere Logo that will not just rub off, however, I've yet to find a Wheel Horse Logo done that way.

Last vehicle I was in without power steering was an Dodge Power Wagon with a Plow up in New England....
