C81 - 8HP muffler replacement

Recommended Posts

Seeing the original mufflers are either not available or WAY over priced,  any suggestions for a replacement ? Any format / style  is fine with me

Right now the outer CAN  is BOLTED THRU the inner pipe as the weld at the top broke.  I may just add another THRU BOLT and secure it to the frame to prevent it from wobbling around.

Its a muffler - Geeze !

All thoughts and comments appreciated

Got you a Original Kohler one, shipping will probably go way trough the roof!

Thx Gentlemen, for now I have it resolved but certainly going forward I'll keep my eye out of other options.

Up at the top  of the outer can I have a 1/4 bolt going all the way thru securing  the outer CAN to the inner pipe.  But the whole thing wobbles around. This morning I added a brace at the end of the exhaust pipe  to the frame, Now it doesn't wobble !

It won't win any beauty contests but its totally functional !  We're  talking about a 1979 -C81 with the original muffler here. LOL
