California’s New Motor Law

Looks like Cali is introducing a new law, mostly effected on garden-equipement.

Sad to see they are going to forbid sales of small-engine equipment..

I wouldn't want to see the effect of this on the lawn-care business. 

Don't now were they draw the line, but it seems hard to believe they are going to forbid riding mowers, which I believe only 2 brands make electric and they seem to ber underpowered and have a very short run-time...

Or a big chainsaw (+70cc) which is somthing completly diffrent then an electric chainsaw, The biggest electric chainsaw you currently an buy is comparable to a 40-50cc gas powered chainsaw.

PLEASE KEEP THE POLITICS AWAY FROM THIS TOPIC

Been watching this on another forum. Imagine trying to hang on to a 25 hp chainsaw!

I do believe we need to do some efforts for the climate, but I do think this is going a bit to far.

 

I commute to work with my bycle. Have changed a lot of lights for LED. But not being able to buy a replacment motor for my Wheel Horse would hurt hard!

I believe keeping, running and repairing them isn't against the law, but you will not be able to buy a new replacement motor nor buy new equipment.

If it’s internal combustion engines that are to banned, go external, (steam, etc) and burn The smokiest fuel you can to annoy the neighbours!

I had read that engines under 25hp were to be banned, so big power upgrades will be the order of the day!

I didn't want this to  be political, cause I am from Belgium and have no know-how of the American politics

 

I just want to give people a heads up about what is going on. I am not intrested in politics, just would love to keep my Wheel Horses and chainsaws. Which me everything for me 20year old youngblood.

While the other moderators chime in, I'll put my 2 cents in on this thread.  The topic is relevant to the forum, and of interest for those who are unaware of the legislation. BUT I am almost certain that it will derail (and probably quickly) and be locked down, removed and members banished into the 5 day suspension category.

This new law, could have a big impact on Wheel Horses, as they can do so much stuff, that we often have seperate small engines for: generator, waterpump, mower, woodchipper, snowblower, tiller,...
