Electric PTO removal

Recommended Posts

Rusty Tinsnips

Hi everyone,

I am trying to remove this PTO from my '71 Raider 10. I read a few posts about getting the 5/8" bolt and screwing it in to pull the clutch and pulleys. BUT, the hole is way bigger than 5/8". Looks like maybe 7/8" or 1" ? Also looks like the key is sticking up high enough to interfere with a bolt going down to the shaft.

The double pully on the engine side started making noise and has slight movement side to side. Hoping I can grease the bearing for some extended life.

Do I need a 7/8" or 1" bolt? Or is something missing inside? Thank you.

953 nut

The electric PTO on my GT-14 required a 1" bolt. Go to your hardware store and buy a 7/8" and a 1" and return the one you don't use.

Well, I had already got a 7/8" before I saw 953 nut's post and it's too small. So back to the store for a 1". sigh

I always keep the bolts that I buy that are the wrong size, then I have a mini hardware store when I need a new washer or to replace a broken bolt. So far it’s been helpful.
