Wayne0 1,387 #126 Posted April 15 I've got a line on a FREE JD 210 tractor with Kohler motor. Says the motor "races" . Single stage blower and deck. Should I get it? Fix it and flip it? 1

Wayne0 1,387 #131 Posted May 8 (edited) I just picked up a snowblower off CL free. 29" Crapsman with a 9hp Techy. Was on CL for 2 weeks. I was sure, for free, it didn't run. The guy drove it out of the back yard. Runs perfect, new AG tires too. Moving and had to get rid of it. Threw in an extra starter motor to boot! Jack pot. Wayne0 1,387 #135 Posted May 11 My (25 yo) pool filter motor is getting sketchy. Pops the breaker intermittently. Picked up 2 pool filters on CL Free. Like new, One Hayward sand and one just like mine. I'm on a roll! I should be able to flip the sand filter for $50 easy.

I volunteer with a group (repaircafe.org) and it is surprising to me how little some folks know about the simplest maintenance and repairs. We save a lot of stuff from ending up in a dump and it's pretty satisfying to coach folks through fixing their stuff.

ineedanother 1,765 #140 Posted 8 hours ago So it's Thanksgiving and this thread helps me to reminisce a bit about when I was growing up in western PA in the '70s when (without TMI) we rescued and repurposed whatever we could out of necessity. My brother and I worked hard to now not have to do that out of necessity, but do it because it's the right thing to do.
