Removal of PTO clutch

Recommended Posts

Hello all

Can Anyone tell me how to remove the PTO clutch on a 73 12 automatic.Pulley puller I’m guessing  ?

Im going to try and go with a manual PTO as I don’t care for these electric clutches and cringe whenever I flip the switch 🥴

Looks like it’s keyed but can’t really tell.

Here’s a pic of what I’m looking at ..thanks

Handy Don

I love learning about thoughtful engineering for maintenance, not just original installation. Kudos to those engineers, wherever they are!

Do NOT use any sort of 'puller' on that Electric PTO...you WILL ruin it.  (1) remove the 9/16 center bolt.  Then follow the directions in this pic... When you put it back on, use the oroginal 9/16 bolt to 'draw' it onto the crankshaft.  If you need parts...I have some...

Thank you Sir for this valuable information and the offer for parts.

I’ll give This a shot later on this evening.

Worked like a charm.Didn’t have the right size bolt but had some all thread laying round.

jammed a couple nuts on it and  she slid right off ! I’ll try and take it apart after I get the motor rebuilt.

Pulled the 301 off and pressure washed the rest.Had about 10lbs of grease on it.
