littleredrider 409 #1 Posted August 15, 2021 Dunno where else to put this, so if in wrong spot mods feel free to move it!!! I bought a D250 earlier this year. I came with a bunch of extra parts, I'm not gonna use most of them, and some parts off the tractor too. It came with a spare motor, looks to be complete, extra hydro pump, it turns over but don't if anything is wrong with it. It is the original to the tractor (76) current one is a newer one. But hoping this winter I can start working on it, gonna replace the motor with a 3 cylinder diesel, along with a hydro trans from a JD318, along with the hydro lift stuff. Once that stuff is out, that motor and trans will be for sale. Motor in the tractor now seems to run great, doesn't make any noise, smokes a little on start up, but could be from choking it and too much fuel. It goes away after a minute or two. Trans is the biggest issue. It works in all gears, hi/lo, and diff lock. Brakes too. But it makes noise, it won't roll backwards at all, even in neutral or in reverse with clutch in. Let clutch out in reverse and it backs up. Also I think I have an extra gearbox for the mower deck. Dunno if wanna get rid of that, it's a 60" that seems to work good, but broke the PTO belt using it lol....I can get pics if anyone wants, just lemme know. littleredrider 409 #5 Posted August 27, 2021 I'll try to get some tomorrow, if it don't rain. Need a day by myself, no wife, no kids, nobody. I haven't looked into the engine swap much, figured when/if get concrete in the garage, then I'll look into it.
