Bull 34 #1 Posted August 4, 2021 Hello, Does anyone have the original OEM part number for a Kohler KT17 fuel filter? I think mine is a NAPA SFI 23001 but am not sure. Regards, Bob
953 nut 59,931 #2 Posted August 5, 2021 The Wheel Horse left the factory with a fuel tank outlet strainer as shown below. To my knowledge there was no other fuel filter installed from the factory. A in line gas filter would be a good idea for any application.

peter lena 9,263 #4 Posted August 5, 2021 @Bull, agree with @953 nut above on the original strainer ,would also add to use dielectric grease , ( rubber / plastic ) rated to install that in the tank , makes the installation very easy . personally have 2 more filters in line before carb , and use STA-BIL in all my fuels , pete

I installed a filter on mine when I got it decades ago. Never had one from the factory. @Bull The filter doesn't 'go' with the engine. And if it's a WH tractor probably didn't have one from the factory. There are different screen mesh sizes for different applications, the coarser mesh is for applications that use 'gravity feed' fuel systems versus 'pumped' systems. The filters are pretty much a 'generic' part, choose the one that fits your tubing size and the mesh required, and you're good to go.
peter lena 9,263 #6 Posted August 6, 2021 @Bull, also changed my fuel lines over to clear vinyl . fuel rated , and smoothed out the fitment of it , used the squeeze clips on each filter , ALWAYS MAKE AN IMPROVEMENT ,WHEN DOING OVER ANYTHING , WHY NOT MAKE IT BETTER ? just my own experience , when ever I make a comment or recommendation , on my horses , that's what works for me, why not make it solid and reliable ? pete
peter lena 9,263 #7 Posted August 6, 2021 @Bull , another huge simple grounding gain , is 4ga wire , from corner of engine to the battery side ground rail , note first picture , that is your battery ground rail contact point, also note the PTO LEVER washer build up to improve the sloppy lever action . simple and easy . now go to last picture , see the battery cable from engine corner / frame ? attach that to the same battery ground rail point , have the same set up on my 3 horses , dramatically increases electrical function ! also last picture , see the BATTERY TENDER PLUG IN , attached to the choke cable ? makes that very easy to use , what a concept ! what I am showing you is what I have on my 3 horses , they all start and run without effort , road tester , pete
