Refilling Hydro. oil on a 520H

Recommended Posts

Changed the filter and hydro. oil on my 520 H yesterday. Somewhere I read when refilling the hydro, to leave the filter off until the oil has been added. The open filter mount allowing the air to escape as the oil is being added. great idea, and thanks...

I usually fill my filter 1/2 full & install it before filling the transmission. Might give your method a try next time.

I always hang a short piece of wire over the fill tube and then insert the funnel, the wire gives a small air gap to prevent the fluid from burping.

Use a small funnel with a 12" drinking straw inserted like this to 'vent' air as oil (ATF) is poured in.  Works great.

I now fill mine with the filter off. No reason to prefill it as it simply filters the oil coming back to the rear end from the control valve for the hydraulic lift.

Maybe I didn't explain myself totally. Leaving the filter off until the oil has been added works perfectly. You can pour the oil with the use if a funnel as fast as it will go down the funnel. Again thanks for the tip.....
