ID Help Kent-Moore wooden box ? Valve lifters ??

Recommended Posts

Things like this just drive me nuts ~

Everything involving Kent Moore part numbers seems to be top secret online.

The J-5763 doesn't come in any search i've done to date. The old box screams valve lifter to me, but cant say for sure.

Any help with ID appreciated

Thanks

Sure looks like a box for keeping lifters in...  maybe the only one in existence by now!  Looks really vintage, and some of the other K-M tools with numbers that low are from like the 40s - 50s.  They've been around a while and I believe still in existence.

Makes me wonder if K-M ever sold lifter sets for V-8 engines, if indeed for lifters ?

That box is so when you take the lifters out and are going to use them and the cam again, you put them in the designated spot so they go back in where they are supposed to.

The ones you can buy now are big enough to store the cam in also!

I think as Squonk said, for use when working on the engine.  To my knowledge K-M never actually sold parts, just tools.

So if K-M only sold tools and not auto parts, would this box J-5763  be considered a tool for holding lifters ? Ive had the yardsticks which held the valves # 1 to 16 but never seen a lifter box.

Still in fashion for 4 pots with sixteen valve heads!
