Very interesting engine family.

Opposed 3 cylinder with 6 pistons. No valve train. No cylinder heads.

Didn't the Navy use opposed piston diesel engines in the WW2 submarines?  I think Fairbanks Morse made them.  Tried using them in diesel locomotives for a bit after the war ad well.  Didn't work out so well for that application, though.

Hm, Im not sure on the US side of things honestly, but you described the English torpedo boats and Deltic engines perfectly.

Airinlet and exhaustoutlet on the cilinders are like a 2-stroke. Intresting indeed!
