Chinese carb issue (Surprised..Not)

Recommended Posts

I know some have luck with Chinese carbs some of don't  Blew $20 on an ebay K2421- K301 carb complete with US flag in  picture  (like I believed that) even had an extra choke shaft..  Showed up quick  So I did some measurements compared to a for real old Kohler K301  carb labeled with #26, the correct carb for a 301.  The nice looking cheapie carb wasn't even close size wise.  Measured the throat the Kohler carb measured .8115  (Spec for #26 is .812 I am not the most accurate measurer in the world.

The Cheapie measured 1.149  (which is close to a #30 carb)  Difference is obvious in picture.  By the way the float was set at 7/32 not 11/64 specified....

You pays your money you take you chances....

I may save this POS for a 14hp as the measurements are closer to the size they need.

Evertyhing i had/have that is made in china, there is always something wrong with it. Most of the time breaks within a week of 2 beyond repair.

And they show an american flag, or write USA, all to fool us. Often the sellers name is american, but later on you find out he is a chinees.

But, did you try it? Does it work? Need the "rest of the story".

Tim Allen would of been proud of that! I've swapped carbs around so much I don't know what's on what. I had a 301 that I swapped carbs around on. Who knows what was on it. It ran ok but the bore was toast.

Nope not wasting my time.  Going to clean up the old one...The venturi size is so far off it may run but probably not well.  When my next 14 hp is in for maintenance I may try it

I guess I'm like squonk, If it bolts up and cables match I put it on..... I've bought prob 10-12 of these things and had one that couldnt get the float to seal, and on several others had to do the choke switcheroo, but otherwise.....

So, larger bore so less air velocity and signal. If it has large main and pilots, maybe not an issue. You'll know when you bolt it on. :)

Yeah I bought one too- and use it as a bandaid fix while rebuilding the original. I have one on a Magnum 10 now and it is working ok. Definitely the only carb i have with zero throttle shaft play!

Not sure i would make one a permanent fix, but it works while waiting for parts.

I like a rebuilt original carb over a chinese one any day.

Return it as “ not as described” they will have to pay return shipping. The more people that start making the returns the more costly it will be for them to operate their cabal.
