Fuel pump gasket   Looks like a plastic pump they use a thin red odd shaped o ring type seal. make sure it stayed in place a touch  grease may help hold it.  If there are flaws in the block sealing surface they are not very forgiving. You might try a regular fuel pump gasket first, then the thin red  o ring seal in addition...

I’ll check that out… thank you @pfrederi.

Seems like a lot of oil for a fuel pump gasket…?

Going along fine then the engine started steadily bogging, then quit with a crunch… now just spins with starter motor, seems like without any resistance… if that makes sense…

will investigate…

Oh oh ....sounds like maybe a rod went ...possible ventilated block ? Oh no say it ain't so. You did check the oil didn’t you? Time to pop the head and see if piston moves up and down but I fear the worst from what you are saying Sylvia. I don't like the crunch sound.  Hopefully I'm dead nuts wrong :handgestures-fingerscrossed:

That's what I fear... Yes I changed the oil and verified its level... (It actually wasn't that bad). Didn't seem to be burning oil either...

Was running perfectly and then boom... :(

She was a no spark special. I enjoy bringing them back to life... Pretty easy really.

Points, condenser, plug wire and coil and she fired right up and ran great... Probably about an hour of trouble free run time... No reason to think any other issues...

This is not the end... One way or another, I'll have her pulling my train around this Summer! :handgestures-thumbupright:

I got one of those little shaker plate motors under my bench you can have, probably not worth the cost to ship it though.

Wow!

Very kind of you!

You may be right on shipping costs, let me dig into this and see what comes up…

Really appreciate your generous offer!

Did the engine run lean?

Why would it blow up?

Strange location to bust thru the block if it trow a rod.

If the rod hit the cam, that's the side for a hole.

Number of reasons.... ran in he past with little to no oil, scored big end, fatigued rod, abusive PO..... :confusion-shrug: it happens all too often.

Crapola :( ... nothing to do with the issue Sylvia but did the fuel pump have an offset arm on it?

Agreed Greg.... one would of thought the cam would have snapped but protected that area?

little Elmers glue,

ok... JB weld!

Not off topic here but this is what a PO did to a K91 block I have. Some kind of epoxy on the inside. How it ever broke here is beyond me.
