Found a C-160!

I've been scouring every classified, Craigslist, and marketplace post looking for a C-160 hydro with a lift.

Found a fresh ad this morning for a screaming deal on one. Sent the guy a message...it was already pending 😫

Well that guy never showed up, and I sent the guy the money immediately!  Seems like it's well worth $400 😁

 

Looks like I'm going to need a pedal, headlights, a seat, and tires. You guys see anything else?

 

I've got a fancy new seat, a brake pedal, and a pair of Firestone tri-ribs on the way. 

 

Side question,  anyone recognize those wheel weights?

So what you did there is buy wheelweights  and a plow. You got a 76 or 77 C160 for nearly free.

Battery was there up to 77. 

No hood ornament - if original - is 76 or 77. 

 

78 + is Cxx1 series. Battery is up top from then on.

Are there any signs that point to the size of the plow? I already have a couple 42"s. Hoping to luck out and get a bigger one

Definitely 76 or 77 with the remains of the plastic cover over the hydraulic lift valve.

For the life of me I can't find any manufacturer that used that cross pattern on the back on their weights. 

 

I've also never seen white plastic weights.

Love it! I have a 1978 c161 and it is possibly my favorite horse. I’m probably in the minority but I think the 78-79 shakers are possibly the best horses ever built but I’d never look down my nose at any C series. Good purchase!

Odds are they're cast iron. 

Might be an aftermarket set?

Look like they're in the 45 to 55 lbs range.

Most 70s plows I've seen were 42". 

 

You could do a @wallfish style mega plow like I've got from him. 

A 42. With added sections on both sides. Measures 61" wide. 

You'll need all the weights and chains you can get. That 16 will have the push. 

my Cinnamon Horse C160 does well.

Looks like the C-160 automatic that I have in one of my sea containers.I haven't looked at  mine in a couple years.Yours gives me the incentive to maybe check mine out.Yours looks like just a good cleaning and general maintanance and it will be good to go.Have fun with your new toy.

That's the first thing I thought. It was in a barn and it pretty dirty, but the paint looks pretty good.  I too think it'll clean up well. 

 

As far as the maintenance, I have a wix 51410 that's supposed to be here tomorrow to change the hydro fluid. Everything else I'll wait and see how it looks Saturday.

Seems as though someone bypassed the clutch safety switch, if you can start it without depressing the clutch.  Make sure to go over the wiring pretty well if it looks like it's original.  Maybe something else has been messed with. After all it is 45 years old.

Do they still have a clutch safety switch if they don't have a clutch?

It's on that left petal, it supposed to put the transmission in neutral.

You'll see if you threads about what we do to tractors that are new to us, at a minimum.

 

One of the first things you're going to want to do without any doubt is replace ALL of the fuel line and clean out the carburetor.

I'll change all fluids, add a fuel filter, change the hydro filter, and rebuild the carb if it needs it.

 

I was just talking about stuff I have to order that I can't just go to a local BM and pick up.

 

Did all the K341s in the 160s use the same part number for the carb kit? What about the air filter?

The ID plate is just above the lift valve. Post what's on it and will link you to manuals.

My all original 76 C-160 has the hood ornament and flip up fender. 2 things it's not supposed to have . you can't go by the ornament.

Most clutch switches that old are stuck in from rust so the tractor thinks the pedal is depressed and starts. Since your's was missing the pedal I'd say the switch is gone. I don't see it in your video

Check if you have a Kohler or Warlboro WHG carb.  If you need help identifying the carb, post some pictures of the numbers located on the top or side of the carb.  The Walbro carb will have WHG or similar raised letters cast on it.
