Two piece transmission for three piece tractor

Recommended Posts

I bought this transmission and homemade plate last year.   I gave the plate to a friend but this plate was made by someone who fabricated and welded it well to attach a two piece transmission to an RJ or  Suburban Wheel Horse tractor.
May  be a necessary move as the parts for three piece transmission rebuild becomes more scarce and unusable.

I've had similar thoughts.  That plate is similar to the replacement transmission mounting plate I made for my 551 Suburban Project

Note, the sketch below is as close as I can determine the exact size of the original Suburban 551 Transmission Mounting Plate.

Whem I made my new one, I added 1" to the top and bottom of the 2.5" side dimension.  This gives a little more metal around the hole for the clotch rod.
