We compared 2 14 HP tractors. So let's compare 2 tires.

The tire on the left

Carlisle   Tru Power   23X10.50-12  $125

Tire on the right

Deestone   Super Extra Grip   23X10.50-12  $90

Supposedly the same size. It's my understanding, the numbers mean this; 23, Height of tire.  10.50,  Width of tire.  12, Wheel size  If I am wrong, please correct me. I often am.

The tire on the left is more what I was expecting, when I ordered the tires on the right. But it is what it is. Now I know.

Of course I had to set one of the aluminum wheels up next to the Massey.20543376_20210401_170515(2).jpg.afbbfb5472325c732112338c55c08e36.jpgAs you can see, I have plenty of room for a 26" tire.

Turn it around,

71851738_20210401_170528(2).jpg.ffdeac27fcec82be6cc52c2c14481304.jpg8" back set. Much better, and there is plenty of clearance. On both sides even. The center hub on the Massey, is larger than the Wheel Horse, and larger than what's in the rim. A 1/4" or 1/2" spacer on each lug bolt would take care of that.

Personally, I would have thought tire sizing would have been more standardized. If a tire says it's 23X10.50-12, That tire should be, 23X10.50-12

I have Carlisle 23x10.50 12’s and then bought the other brand for another tractor and the difference was unbelievable, the tractor sat low in the rear. They are still on there but I wish I had spent the additional money and got another set of Carlisle tires

I use 10.50 Deestones on 7” wide wheels and 10.50 Carlyle’s on 8.5” 520 wheels.

If you are going to use spacers, you should use a spacer that supports the whole mounting surface of the wheel, not just the area around the studs.

You are more likely to have cracks start in the mounting surface around the bolt holes with small spacers around the studs - espically in aluminum wheels.

Speaking of wheel spacers, again. The center hub on my Massey is 3 1/4" The center hole in the wheels, is smaller. Obviously, I need wheel spacers. I have been advised 860658049_Screenshot_2021-04-02WhiteKnight5LugDiscBrakeWheelSpacer.png.fe2e577fb9158a139fbde7163dca519d.png,more than once, not to use individual spacers on each lug bolt, due to cracking of the wheel. I can see that happening. Would these spacers cause the same problem you think?

Seems like Charlisle/ITP group are making some very good and close to spec tires.

Nice to see you get a width of 11 by a 10.5 tire. Getting more then where you payed for.

ITP still makes their tires in the USA. and on their ITP/Charlisle website, you will find the actual measured mounted size of all their tires and size combination.
