Wood Splitter Accident

Recommended Posts

bc.gold

Most of what you hear as news in our small town is rumor, when someone had told me that a native fellow cut his arm off in a wood splitter I had asked the native at the gas bar filling my truck if there was any meat to the story.

Danny told me EMS flew him and the arm into Winnipeg where they successfully reattached the arm, which had been severed about six inches from the wrist.

I’m sure my splitter doesn’t care what it’s pushing on... but I can’t imagine holding the hydraulics or pedal down through my whole arm.  I have had help running the controls while I handle big stuff, but limbs are surely clear of the wedge!

Might take a run out later to grab a picture of this wood splitter, knowing Barry Burtnick it'll be some sort of home made contraption.

I have known people to hook up the wrong hydraulic lever on a splitter so insted of it locking in the reverse direction it will lock in the going forward motion. Needless to say I passed the logs to then that day and stayed off the splitter.

Being aware and doing nothing about the situation would have been criminally negligent on your part.
