Stepney 2,354 #1 Posted March 5, 2021 Evening, all. Figured this would be the place to post this. Been wanting a classic Kohler 4 cylinder generator for a while, but rather hard to get around here.. Stumbled into this 1967 (so I was told) Kohler 3.5kw 110/230v, 1800rpm light plant. (Nice and quiet) Allegedly was used exactly one time. It came out of a schoolhouse. It's never had gasoline in the bowl, the sediment glass has blue paint. At first I was lead to believe it was the K331 pressure oil system engine, turns out it's just a 301. Ah well, we can dream. It's a dual fuel, was always run on propane gas. My question here is, on the intake, you will notice a broken fitting and needle valve next to the propane inlet. I've not yet traced the steel line, but it goes behind the shroud. Has anyone here played with a propane fired K series? We had it running pretty good the day I bought it, but still haven't got around to setting it up properly. 3 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Mickwhitt 5,131 #2 Posted March 5, 2021 Very interesting engine. Quite a conversion to LPG. Im not sure what the steel pipe does, could it draw air from the fan casing to mix with the gas? Pullstart 66,754 #4 Posted March 5, 2021 My genny I pulled apart was set up LP. I believe that tube is a vacuum valve to regulate the flow of gas. Some of the components in mine were busted so my plan is to convert for gasoline use.
