Torque specs 8-speed

Recommended Posts

Maxwell-8

I am gone start working on 3 trannys, two 8-speeds and one 4speed.

And probably this has been asked a lot, but can't find anything.

So my question is, what are the torque specs on the diff bolts and case bolts?

Thanks!

Tight.

Should be 3/8-16 bolts?

Bout 30 foot lbs dry.

Honestly I don't check em. Just tighten til it feels right to me.

You should be able to find torque spec charts for various size bolts into various materials and various grades of bolts on the web.

https://www.portlandbolt.com/technical/bolt-torque-chart/ for example

That chart doesn't mention material into which you are threading though, Aluminum requires less torque of course.

It's not so much a manufacturer thing as it is a materials thing.

A dab of BLUE loctite should not affect the torque setting.

I've done it for years and years with no ill affects.

Replying to this to add keywords so it'll come up in a search for:

Torque settings for bolts and drain plugs

Grade 2

Grade 5

Grade 8
