haydendavid380 759 #1 Posted January 30, 2021 (edited) When I got my B80 the brakes worked fairly well. The parking brake lever was extremely stiff and didn't work very well. Fast forward to now when it's being used a couple times a week on snow duty, the brakes no longer work. When I look at the band and shoe, it looks like there isn't any tension on the band. I ordered springs 10368 and 107677. Are these the only consumables to rebuild the brakes (besides the band, which is still serviceable)? Eta- on an unrelated note, in the same order I picked up a D&D Kevlar reinforced belt. Does anyone have experience with them? gwest_ca-(File Mod) 10,441 #2 Posted January 30, 2021 The rod that goes to the brake band should have a 3/8" Nylok nut on it. That is where you make the adjustment. Garry
Lee1977 6,169 #3 Posted January 30, 2021 If the oil seal behind the brake drum is leaking that could cause you not to have brakes. The rod adjustment just moves the brake peddle, it will tighten the brake band, but if taken up too far the parking brake won't engage.
haydendavid380 759 #4 Posted January 30, 2021 I guess I was wrong What I saw loose around the drum was the separated material not the actual band
haydendavid380 759 #5 Posted January 30, 2021 Is this band still usable if I take a wire wheel to it? Also, what adhesive are you guys using to attach the new linings?
stevasaurus 22,197 #6 Posted January 30, 2021 Looks like it is still good from here. Bathroom silicone calk will work great to hold that lining.
haydendavid380 759 #7 Posted January 30, 2021 This is how it came out after putting a wire wheel on it to knock off all the rust Sprayed it down with brake cleaner, spread glue down to both surfaces, and clamped it for about 4 hours Got everything back together once the glue was tacky enough to hold the material to the back during installation, and then tightened it down and set the parking brake. Hopefully everything will be golden by tomorrow morning to shove around some snow.
