Gregor 4,838 #158 Posted April 4, 2022 In Amana Iowa there is a wood working shop, operated by the Amish. My wife and I have been there several times. They make all sorts of furniture, and clocks. Lots of clocks. We always marveled at the clocks, they were beautiful. From simple mantle clocks to stately grandfather clocks. And they were expensive. Very expensive! On one such visit we noticed a mantle clock on a shelf. Very nice clock. The price was only $600. At the time, $600 was a great deal of money to us, but it was a beautiful clock, and it was from the Amana Colonies. We inquired further. Turns out, the $600 was for the shelf the clock was sitting on. The clock itself was $2200. We went home with out a clock. Again. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Been there countless times and in my younger days I actually almost applied for a position there. It would involve too many changes in my life so I gave up the idea. Not as prominent and a little out of the main area where most walk through but there is also a carpenter shop that is as great . Can’t wait to go back.
