Recommended Posts

Hello I am curious if anyone has the dozer conversion plans that used to be available various places I would like build one but can’t find the plans anywhere anymore. Would be nice to have a parts list at minimum. Any info would be greatly appreciated thanks!

I would like to convert a electro 12 auto and put tracks on it. There was a place that used to sell plans but I can’t seem to find it now.

What with attempting a try at this, (whew! makes me tired just imagining it) the track itself would seem to be one of the biggest hurdles.... In reading thru my local CL I see these guys ad often and could be a big help with tracks. Have to admit tho, sure is an interesting idea..........

I would love to see this topic explode!  I'd love to have a little dozer too!
Decades ago, before I had any GTs I read a multi month Mother's Earth project to make a GT from odds and ends.  Loved the article!  But I can't see ever doing it.  Unless I can find some used track I can't see making a dozer either, not even starting with a tractor.

From "pacer"'s link:

https://texasrubbertracks.com/product/bobcat-e10-rubber-track/

Bobcat E10 Rubber Track

$275.00 $177.00

That's EXACTLY what Colossus is.

Why?

Well.

Because I had a BIG engine that needed a new home.

And because I'm Amer-I-CAN.

Was that Mother Earth News?

Haven't seen that in a pile o whiles. Good reading.

Great projects always start with building a vehicle around a motor... cant go wrong there.

Fixed:  "I read a multi month Mother's Earth NEWs project"

I'm glad they built it!

I'm hoping that you are going to build it! <grin>

But I'm probably not going to...

Oh yeah... It's getting there.

We've been collecting parts for it.

I need to get it on 4 wheels next so I can the beast of an engine setting on it.

Just noticed that this was an old 200 series!  No disrespect intended!  But I'm even more in awe of this build!   Pretty sure there's a dozer build on this site but even so perhaps it's time for a new one.

Don't start with an old 200.  Newer 260s maybe!

Boy would that be a fun one.

Bit time consuming I s'pose.

The tracks appear very easy to construct.

I'd love to see the drive system.

Maybe there was an advantage to using a vertical shaft engine??

Don't know...  But I suspect it was an additional challenge.

There was a build on here of one. I have those plans somewhere so I'll try and find them

Lots of cutting and welding to make those tracks
