Stepney 2,314 #30 Posted December 9, 2020 That is a Salisbury roller weight drive clutch. Every Arctic Cat came with one in the late 60's.. miserable to work with and have a distinct shape. Some early Polaris used them too. The secondary (helical) clutch looks Salisbury too. Its too small to be from a snowmobile of much size but very well could have been out of something early. Actually. Now that I think of it. That looks suspiciously alike the secondary drive shaft of a Polaris L55 with the chain wheel removed. Suppose it could be anything. But its a thought. Mickwhitt 4,134 #34 Posted December 10, 2020 I have a couple of milling machines that used the same system. But controlled by lever to change the speed of the the spindle with a constant motor speed. Its much easier to see them working than on a noisy snow mobile so I will grab a video later on. Its a great system and gives a super smooth variable speed set up for drilling or milling.
