fuel leak, looks like a bad hose

Any hose I know is over two years old I replace it with blue Sten's fuel hose.

Looking forward to your progress.

EB, how long have you been using Stens Blue?  I noticed Frank’s NEW fuel hose from the 2018-2019 restore is already cracking!  I believe you’re on to something for longevity...

@BAM1, if I haven’t yet... :text-welcomeconfetti: to RedSquare!  I see that you have an auto in there and hydraulic lift, all that work well?  If so, you’ve got yourself a great mow/snow plow rig!

I started using see through line so I could have a diagnostic tool with being able to see the fuel.

I tried using yellow Tygon once about 3(?) Years ago. Stiffened quickly.

We switched to Sten's blue.

I like it so far. It most certainly is better than the old black rubber line but I'm not sure it'll go more than 3 or 4 years and maintain good flexibility.

I'll check the line on Cinnamon Horse later. That has 2 seasons on it.

I've personally seen black rubber line degrading in less than 2 years from others use of (nasty E word) not real gas.

Congrats on the C-160. i just got one and there are not too many around.  Welcome from a fellow Buckeye.  There are plenty of good people here who know their stuff. I got some blue hose from TSC that got hard pretty quickly, but now i know where to find Stens, for example. i found out that it is a good idea to clean every wire connection and check and clean the ground connection. I finally found a corroded or slightly loose end on a starter cable that looks great with no green corrosion present. Chasing gremlins is not fun.

Thank you all for your responses When I hit a stumbling block I will reach out for advice and direction.

I acquired this machine from my dads estate many years ago. I used it for about 4-5 years to mow my yard, and move some stones around the drive. when the wheel horse became unreliable, I bought another "brand" and parked parked the horse for a long time. After doing some research on her I decided to take a second look and see if I could get it back in working order.

I have done a lot of work with this machine and Know it's a beast, pushed several tons of #2 stones to make a parking area next to my Garage. The machine just would not give up when pushing the pile of stone.

My buddy Jay needed a tractor pretty quickly. His Huskvarna blew a head gasket and is barely alive. He liked how tough my Wheel Horses are and I told him I would be on the look out for a suitable machine.
Bob Ellison recently put up two and I had not seen anything that looked this good in this price range.  I told him that we had the money cash in hand and that if my buddy did not have quite enough that i would cover the rest.   i also offered to send a down payment to hold the tractor. We had a messy eviction that was just disgusting , so Bob graciously worked with us until we could get up there.
What a nice guy he is. Then i found out that he is the seat guy and the tractor came with one of his seats. It was a seat that the impressions did not meet his high standards for his customers., so he called it his own seat. I enjoyed his company so much that it was a bit difficult to make sure that all the stuff like the mule drive and the deck was all there. After all, we were 175 miles from Deploraville , Ohio. he took the time to explain how he made the two piece seat upholstery with top of the line foam and marine grade vinyl. It makes me wish I had bought one when they were still available.
Ok, so the tractor has a 48 inch deck that Jay has already patched a bit and given a coat of Hammerite. He bought a decent amount of the stuff at auction, and it is good paint even though the color is a bit off. Bob threw in a second deck that is a 42" but has a different pulley system that i am not familiar with. He also had two extra tires holding air on rear wheels for a 520. plus, we took a few other tires for some of my junk.
We had a few Wheel Horse stories and i mentioned my daughter had landed a job at Umich and her studies there that enabled me with the help of my daughter in Ann Arbor to trade a Briggs motor for a Kohler in a grocery store parking lot from the trunk of a Buick lesabre. Then Bob told me how proud he was that his grandson was just entering the military. Then my buddy Jay and Bob talked about the Navy since they are both navy vets.
We are missing the clutch engagement handle, the push rod, trunion nut, and interior clutch mount. They just never were on the tractor that Bob never had a mower mounted to, so it was overlooked at the time of sale. Jay probably can make them off my spare parts robbed from another of my  tractors for a pattern.
We will get to the pictures and process later. For now, I just wanted to mention our appreciation that Bob Ellison is such a gentleman. The fact he wanted his tractors to be used and not just flipped and sold will certainly be fulfilled in this case.  The fact the Jay has his first Wheel Horse as a C-160 auto is just icing on the cake.

my 1067 stopped moving; limited slip had worn out long ago;  now input pully is turning , but tractor doesnt move --- very slight motion forward or backward if on level ground with no resistance.  Enough to tell me shift lever is actually changing gears.
I suspect input shaft woodruff keys but might be something worse ... i am interested in perhaps buying a new, used,or rebuilt  transaxle if someone has one they would part with.  And any advice on opening up the transaxle and looking inside .  Or where i can find parts to rebuild it myself...

I finally got a chance to rebuild a transmission with a hi/low mechanism.  This is a 6 speed #5060 transmission with the 10 pinion limited slip differential.  Notice the brake shaft comes out the hole closest to the axle housing.  The 8 speeds brake shaft comes out of the cluster shaft hole.  I did a series of videos for this thread along with some pictures.  The videos are split up between different phases of rebuilding...ie...the differential, the hi/low shift mechanism, the rest of the gears 1 & 2 (my batteries died in the camera).  Most of the information will be in the videos...be advised that I did some struggling while doing these videos and I left them as is because it is not always easy.    Hope this helps you guys.

      correction...
According to the manual the bolts that hold the differential together are in backwards in the video.  The nuts should be on the input shaft side (right side) of the transmission.  Sorry, I missed that.

Just got the trans split.  I use a 1" old wood chisel to start and then work the case apart with a pry bar.

A couple shots after getting the case half off...trans is in neutral.

The trans case works as a work bench for the differential...very cool

Here is the reason the trans needed to be opened.  An axle gear lost it's teeth and the pieces were lodged in the pinions.

      Finished and back together.

The rest are the videos...1st on is the differential...

Next 2 are dealing with the hi/low mechanism...1st one taking apart and the 2nd on putting together...be nice...it was my first time.

Now, 2 videos putting the rest of the trans together...batteries died just before I finished the first video.

      Thanks for looking

      Good Morning everybody!

I am in the process of sharpening the blades for my mowing deck (Model 78360 - Serial 7904987) and I noticed that the deck has a crack in it right where the bracket to the mounting hardware (to the tractor) is. SO I know I have to get that repaired.

But while I was at this, I thought I could do a good quick once over on the deck to make sure I am ready for the season.
What I would like to do is the following:
Change the bearings for the spindles (or pack them with more grease)
Get new rear tires (since they squeak)
      And that's about it

If anyone here thinks I should do anything else, I would love to hear it!

Where does everyone get the hardware (bearings, wheels for these rebuilds?)
