As I sit on it i can't make my feet go that far back so I think I am good there. As far as width. I think with the side pieces I will be ok. There is a decent amount of room once the screws are mounted. Its going to be like a meat grinder so the more room in there the better. Hope I never find out

Still having builders block. Having a hard time making seat mounts that fit this build. The seat location and height works really well just cant leave the paint can there. Anyone wanna throw some ideas at the wall to see what sticks?

Simple metal “box” (think milk crate) that hinges at front with seat as the top...?

 

 

Looking at that latest picture I continue to think you should consider added foot guard area... with the screws turning “in” for forward it will create an instant grab and drag for any loose clothing etc... I would have complete cover over the screws adjacent to seat and leg area...

 

Just my ... your skills are amazing... just want you to keep all your parts...

I just had the seat sitting on a couple of ammo cans. It just didnt look rite. I know what you mean thou. Also trying to keep the weight down as well. As far as the foot rest area goes there is articulation to keep in mind as far as width. Length well my thought on that is. It's a big  meat grinder "gas powered" if anything gets in the pinch point between the screw and the foot rest it will stay there till it gets past the foot rest. With the short foot rest I have a short pinch point. There is a 4in gap between the screw and running board but then there is 12in between the screw and the frame behind the running board. A release point from the jaws of death if you will. I appreciate your concern greatly, just trying to keep that pinch point to a minimum.

I agree, i think it should be quite basic in construction.

Neighbors cat/dog/rooster. They keep things pretty tight after the BBQ grill and boat fenders LMAO Although I have a couple rooster I could get rid of.

Only thing I can add is to suggest it might be a bouncier/rougher ride than a WH. Something to brace the operator? What comes to mind are sport seats that grip you a bit.

Tried one of these and gotta say it was darned comfy. If I had to do hours of seat time I'd be looking for something like this.

I like the "couple of bars" idea.  Maybe a cooler with hot chocolate between the bars?  Seriously I'd use that space for something, maybe a tool kit?
