haydendavid380 759 #1 Posted October 31, 2020 While replacing the fuel lines on my '75 B-80 the fuel valve and the rubber grommet on the bottom of the tank game off in my hand along with about half a pound of JB Weld and melted silicone. Once I got the junk of the bottom of the tank, it looked pretty clean and undamaged. I assumed the the previous owner had experienced a leak from an old grommet and proceeded to try and stop the leak with the aforementioned sealants. I ordered a new grommet and valve assembly hooked everything back up, and it's leaking as much as ever. From what I can see there appears to be some small pin holes along the seam near the outlet at the bottom of the tank. I don't want to try and mess with getting that patched up so I'm looking for a replacement. Being that all the used tanks are going to be nearly a half century old (also made of ancient brittle plastic) has any one found a new replacement tank for the tractors that have the tank located under the hood? I would have thought that with the simple shape and lack of any attachments on the tank it should have been a piece of cake to find a new one, but the only thing I can find is this one, and I'd prefer to have something more than a single gallon.
Vurge 158 #2 Posted October 31, 2020 The Predator 212cc tank fits pretty well in the original spot on my 606.

ebinmaine 71,092 #6 Posted November 1, 2020 @Vurge is this a tank that be ordered separately and if so ... How? @haydendavid380 I replace all my plastic tanks with metal ones from the late 60s. Easy to find in usable condition.
Vurge 158 #7 Posted November 1, 2020 (edited) I see them for about $25 shipped on Ebay but I suspect it might be cheaper calling Harbor Freight directly. Then again, the whole engine is $99 on sale. 😂 Edited November 1, 2020 by Vurge

Will the normal wire tie downs hold these other tanks? Normally I'd drill a new hole, yes. Usually those metal tanks have a pipe threaded outlet that I put a shut off valve into. Be careful to give consideration to the size of the valve before drilling the hole. For the hold downs as you can see there are two metal straps that keep those in place. What I've done so far is to use one of the two straps. I may have a spare I could send you for the price of postage plus a couple bucks. I'm fairly sure you could find one of those on fleeeBay or whatever as well.
