ebinmaine 72,748 #8 Posted October 12, 2020 I am not opposed When correction IS correct And history, kept. We must learn right ways. Not everyone knew at first Wheelhorse IS the best!! Just to clarify my own meaning. There are long-standing remembrances such as statues or paintings of certain figures of United States history that as we all know have been under great scrutiny recently. Anyone who has studied any number of subjects such as ancient or modern history, same for religion, politics, or for that matter many many far less divisive subjects, should be able to find that many of the societal or figurehead rules or ideas may have fit in at the time they were used, right or wrong. But in today's modern society things have changed. I believe that unless those leaders or figureheads have done something so grotesquely inhumane that they should be removed from the public eye that perhaps instead of removing their remembrances we could build additions or modifications to the histories that were written and kept. I understand the frustrations and ideals of those on both sides of the aisle on some of these situations. Personally I sit very calmly right in the middle.... For most. In the case of Christopher Columbus, in MY OWN HUMBLE OPINION, there is genuine need for a correction to be made. Having done some research on my own into the subject of that man I can assure you that he has done absolutely nothing for these great United States of America that should be documented by history.
