Serial number question please

Hi all, thanks to all those that have contributed so far.

My tractor hibernated over the winter but recently I had time to have a fiddle with it after years of it being poorly laid-up. I changed the engine oil, refurbished the fuel pump, cleaned out the carb, re-seated all the cables, cleaned out the tank, cleaned the contacts, replaced the axle oil and got the tractor running.

Wow, it sounds like a warbird and certainly popped and spat fire at first! Love it! Running it on axle stands to get that fresh axle oil circulating......reminds me of that movie Ferris Buhlers Day Off. I actually think old Ferrari parts are easier to get hold of!

I'm still trying to determine the year of build, which is needed here in the UK for road registration. If I can't, I may get lots of questions and then a non-standard licence.

I've gotten nowhere trying to research the model number 01-16KH81 but the Kohler engine is 1982.

My frame serial and engine serial numbers are very close to another Wheelhorse in the UK (Highland Horse) that also is a 01-16KH81 so I'm sure the model number  exists.

I previously deduced it was probably a run-out model in the UK in the same way the SK486 was for the US but I still have the issue of verifying my findings.

If anyone has any knowledge of my model would they please contribute and help solve the mystery!! My ID tags have the model number printed (not stamped), rather like a microdot font. If anyone knows when this style was introduced it may help me narrow down the year. I'm presently thinking 1982 because of the 1982 Kohler presently fitted (which is corroborated by the other know example of 01-16KH81).

Any help is appreciated

Jase

What is the tractor serial number?

Have learned the Belgium built serial numbers were consecutive from year to year which was not always the case with American production.

The last 2 digits of the 8-digit model number for the parts list code are often only 1 one digit or a space with one digit on Belgium production and sometimes 91 was used. Toro has a few model numbers using the 91 but very few. Decals may have been the only difference as Belgium was supplying multiple languages.

When Wheel Horse went to the model number format you have in 1976 they had a page that described the new numbering system that continued for many years

Thanks for your reply, Gary.

My numbers are literally so close to the c160 of HighlandHorse  (Scotland) that I'm going to assume the same date of manufacture ie the same Julian build date (although that is not actually visible on my id tag, curiously)

I'll give road registration a try and send you a photo if I'm successful. Cheers.
