Most ground engaged implements that are Cat 0 like a rear blade, 12” Brinly plow, Cat 0 disc, etc will work just fine. The Tuul Crib 7,332 #28 Posted September 30, 2020 So I just got done taking a look at this tractor in this thread. This tractor is all their meaning the fender in the seat with a little wear. Like I said it is all there one rust hole in the deck on the top side in the normal spot. The discussions early in this thread were kind of sowing the seeds of hope that you’d get it for dirt cheap, but I would have really been surprised if that happened. I would have been happy for you though. If you want it or need it that thing is probably worth his $1000 asking price. You’re not likely to find another one so close to home in a long time…maybe ever unless a local collector ends up with one they imported and decide to unload. They were expensive and not very common when new since practically the same money would buy a nicer and more modern John Deere or Cub Cadet. I think it was easier for the JD and CC dealerships to move the bigger stuff since they were also in the real tractor business and had a different crowd walking through the door. Wheel Horse dealers were fundamentally selling suburban tractors to suburban owners, not utility tractors to large property owners. Besides that, people used to do more with less so it wasn’t uncommon for a person with an acre yard to mow with a 36” deck. A 4-footer was a real acre-taker in those days, so the 60” deck was a comparative monster. If you can negotiate him lower, great. But I wouldn’t expect him to have trouble selling it with a listing on this site or elsewhere since he’ll easily find someone willing to travel for it. If it was any other C-XX5 series then it wouldn’t have the same gestalt or appeal. It would be just another 40-year old red thing. But the C-195 is different since it was WH’s final salvo at staying in the Super Garden Tractor market. I don’t remember the complete story about these, but the gist of things is that some dealers convinced Wheel Horse they could sell a heavy duty tractor to replace the rather unwieldy D-auto series. So WH put the team to work beefing up the venerable C-series platform to take bigger attachments. Who knows how many design hours went into the wacky rear PTO arrangement that they conjured. It was a flop. Very poor seller. Much wailing and gnashing of teeth by the bigshots. They probably only built enough to finish out the initial runs of special parts that had to be made. I thought the number was in the 400’s that they sold, but maybe it was more. The least common was the 1984 model. Even the German/French/Italian D250 oddity sold in larger numbers than the whole run of C-195’s…but that was another sore spot wherein it took nearly a decade to sell three model years’ worth of tractors. Anyway, I looked for one for years. YEARS. Even living in South Bend for a while I found they were in short supply and generally not for sale. Eventually I ended up with three of them from three different states, the last one coming from close to home. They’re all gone now. It’s been a while, so this is foggy but I think the regular 48” mower decks fit these tractors. I think there is an interference problem with the rear gage wheels and rear tractor tires on the 42’s. The 60” deck is specific to this tractor and was made by Ariens with a lot of the Ariens bracing removed, so it’s a bit wiggly and flexible (recall some of the guys on here years ago called them the flexible flier). The front “mule” pulley box only has one pulley for routing the belt to the 60" deck, the other one is mounted to the tractor frame below the engine. I’ve seen a 520 style 60” deck under a C195, so it apparently can work. I’m pretty sure these require a longer A-frame on the dozer blades so you have to use the D-series stuff, which is a plus since the blades are bigger too. Wouldn’t be surprised if a 520 style extension would get you the extra length. Regular snowthrowers fit, but the lifting tube is different since it needs to be longer. The “flag” is also different. I don’t know if the 2-stage snowblower fits or not. Probably doesn't matter in Tennessee. The normal 36” WH tiller doesn’t work, although I’m sure you can gin up some kind of adapter to make it work and get the belt back there. These were designed to take the 38”/50” 3-pt mounted, PTO driven tiller from the D-autos. But you need the rear PTO kit with the incredibly long V-belt that routes power from the engine pulley up, down, and all around to the rear of the tractor. The WH three point hitch was a category 0 and I never ran into any fit problems with any third party implement. If you have the rear PTO, matching implements need to be 2000 RPM with matching rotation (CW if you are standing behind tractor looking at the PTO shaft). These were better tractors than the D-series in every way. They have better traction and are certainly more user friendly. For whatever reason I don’t think they suffered rear end failure like the D’s or frame failures like some of the other C’s. I guess the differential bolts were better and the Eaton was a stronger transmission. $1000 is a lot of money, but the seller is certainly not out of line in his price. I'm not looking to talk you into this, just offering some background.
