Unfortunately he recently picked up & moved out of state. Don't know his new location.:(

Here is a source for new OEM & aftermarket starters

Nothing yet, a few families from his community moved south some place to set a new community. I know some families that stayed in this area, I just haven't had time to talk with any of them yet. I'm hoping that he will continue his trade at his new location.

If/when you hear something please keep us posted.

I would try Mark @richmondred01 to see if he has a starter for a Kohler Magnum as they are different from the K series.

Got a DS Starter coming. Need to get the tractor up and running. Will have the OEM starter rebuilt over the winter. Any opinion on DS starters?

DS starter? What’s DS mean? I have an 87 414-8, it sounds horrible when it starts! I believe it to be an aftermarket starter..

I've ordered from DB electrical three times I think.

Voltage regulator that works great.

Tried a couple ignition switches and one of them was so cheap it barely worked. But to their credit they gave me an immediate refund.

Well, DB starter arrived, mounted up perfect and the tractor turned over... OEM starter boxed and ready to have it rebuilt....all in all a good day

Rebuilding starters or generators/alternators has always been commonplace where I live. At least when there were plenty of smaller farmers, there were smaller tractors that were decades old and still in use. What I can still report is that in the free farm community magazines you can still find a few guys advertising to rebuild starters. All you really need is a bench top and the level of knowledge we use to keep the old iron running. .Pretty much a business a retired guy can do in his garage

Even on a 2002 5,9 Cummins Diesel, it was no big deal for me to quickly locate the problem on a denso starter For the brute of a starter that it takes to turn over a Diesel in zero degres F. The turbo diesel register magazine pointed the way to solid copper contacts that were maybe 30 dollars or so, and the repair i did was only difficult to the extent that i had to modify a wrench to remove a 10 MM bolt to get the starter removed from the truck and then re=install the heavy little monster.
