WHNJ701 4,168 #1 Posted August 25, 2020 My commando 6 had the cigarette lighter at one time I guess, how did they mount the socket? If someone can post a pic of the bracket. I have a lighter and socket from a 65 mustang that will fit in the hole
BHunter 1,701 #2 Posted August 25, 2020 Hi Jason, my 877 doesn’t use a bracket. It just has this dark sleeve piece that acts like a nut on the back side of the dashboard. It has teeth that grab the back of the dash. 3

It has teeth that grab the back of the dash. That's the only way I've even seen one mounted, car or tractor. The threaded outer sleeve, which on some lighter sockets acted as the ground. Better off with a dedicated ground wire. I lit a lot of cigarettes using the WH lighters at the dealership back in the day. My boss liked when I pointed out when a tractor in for service had a dead lighter. UPSELL!!! 2
squonk 44,923 #4 Posted August 25, 2020 Go to a junk yard and find a 90's and lower GM. They used the sleeve. There is probably 18 jillion of them out there.

The Tuul Crib 7,340 #7 Posted August 26, 2020 They are not cigarette lighters anymore! they are used to run a spotlight or charge your phone while you were mowing! OK maybe the occasional cigar!

I don't think people can afford to smoke anymore, I see Jersey is raising a pack of smokes another 1.85 or something like that

gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,868 #10 Posted August 26, 2020 From my automotive days there were two suppliers/designs of lighters - Casco and Rochester. Garry

Go to any auto parts store for a complete assembly. if you don't need the lighter any 12vdc outlet will do. Here's a nice one for short money for charging phones & a built in voltmeter to boot. Outlet Or just your basic Basic We use them to run our tailgate smokers at shows.

Bet the knob could be replaced on this one if a guy had the original knob and wanted a working resto. I have the knobs but the element is funked. https://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchResultsPageCmd?q=3782619.&storeId=10001&catalogId=10002&langId=-1&channelSource=WEB Edited 11 hours ago by WHX??
