Tecumseh 10hp vs 12hp

I recently destroyed my Tecumseh hh100 10hp motor on my Raider 10 and was lucky enough to find a direct replacement. I dont think the original is in good enough shape to rebuild, so I've been keeping an eye out for backup engines.

Someone near me is selling an unused hh120 still on a crate. Will the hh120-120159D be a direct replacement for the hh100? What measurements should I ask from the seller to verify this will work? Output shaft is 1" diameter and 3-1/4" long.

I think I can reuse my tins (and maybe flywheel) from the dead engine to use a geared starter instead of a belt starter.

The only real bummer is that it's painted white!

Red engine is what's currently on tractor for reference.

Lastly, guy wants $300 for it. Is this a good price?

Dimensions are probably identical (or very very close)  That is not a belt starter it is a rope pull.  Probably no charging system...may or may not have ring gear on flywheel...

I can verify for a fact that a 10 and a 16 are different because I have one of each. A lot of the tens and 12 are grouped together so like Paul says above you should be right there with the sizing. Best bet is to put both of them on a flat surface and measure to the crank centerline and to the top of the sheet metal.

That appears to be a stationary engine such as would be on a snowblower or whatever. so like as is also stated above I would be concerned that there is no charging system.

@pfrederi Paul is there a concern with this one for the PTO and having an outer bearing that will take side thrust?

You should look at eh parts manual for that spec#  Looks like no ring gear to me also do not see any charging stator.

HH120 use tapered roller bearings so no PTO issue.
