H55 vs HT55

Recommended Posts

71_Bronco

Have a WH Lawn Ranger 32R or 32E, with an incorrect motor on it. From what I can find, the correct motor is a Tecumseh HT55.

Someone locally to me has a complete H55 with electric starter and recoil starter, painted red already. It's sitting on a riser plate very similar to the one on my Lawn Ranger.

What's the difference between an H55 and an HT55?

He's asking $100 for it, but obviously I'd try to negotiate the price.

Thoughts?

Never heard of an HT honestly but seems they do exist. An H55 is an aluminum 5hp and the HH55 was a cast iron block.. but HT? I have no idea.
H55 would fit one of those just fine though.

At one time "T" was used to indicate Tecumseh as opposed to Lauson Power Products.

One of the documents in the manuals section has a table that shows what all of the prefixes are for.

Thanks guys. I was going by what was on tractor data dot com. That site said HT55. Says 5.5hp, manual recoil, electric option.

The Lawn Ranger 33 claims a 6hp Lauson, manual recoil, electric option.

My serial is 62-17234, which indicates a 32 model, and thus the HT55 (assuming tractor data is correct).

Edit: Only issue with this would be that my frame doesn't have a battery tray, which made me assume it was a 32R.

Found the chart @oilwell1415 was referring to. The H was horizontal shaft, HH was horizontal shaft, heavy duty (cast iron block). No mention of HT though.

Would it be safe to assume the HT55 would be aluminum, just made by Tecumseh versus Lauson?

Found this. Too hard to follow so added spaces between the models.
